Two Important Actions, Mon. and Tues.

Hi Ellen,

It was great seeing you last night.  Attached are two actions I just learned about that are happening next week.  Salon readers will probably be more interested in the health care rally on Tuesday at 4pm that begins at Piatt Park on Garfield Place and ends at Voinovich's office.  Though the Schmidt rally on Monday might be of some interest as well...

I also wanted to get back to you on abortion statistics.  According to Guttmacher Institute:

"Each year, about two percent of women aged 15-44 have an abortion; 47% of them have had at least one previous abortion."

"The abortion rate among women living below the federal poverty level ($9,570 for a single woman with no children) is more than four times that of women above 300% of the poverty level (44 vs. 10 abortions per 1,000 women). This is partly because the rate of unintended pregnancies among poor women (below 100% of poverty) is nearly four times that of women above 200% of poverty* <http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/fb_induced_abortion.html#fn0>  (112 vs. 29 per 1,000 women."

I hope to see you again soon.

Best,

Bentley
