Mr G: my understanding is that thyroid is very complex. Tests look very different according to when they are taken.... There are many diseases in which one has to struggle to get the right levels of medication ... you have to be a good reporter of y our symptoms. You can kill the best help by over-expectations, unrealistic expectations ... then there is natural thyroid vs artificial thyroid...
Some of the "wholistic" people just make things up.
Si Lenzbegone: I went to University medical faculty ... They told me "diet has no effect on thyroid functioning". A book I read said you are not supposed to take calcium within 2 hours of your thyroid medicine,... was never told this by the doc. ... I got acne when I was 30 and took antibiotics for 2 yrs, and later learned that the calcium I was taking made the tetracycline ineffective!

Vlasta I have PhD in biochemistry, worked for NIOSH, toxicology. It is very complex. Nutrition has tremendous impact. Also exercise.
I run with people for years in Burnet Woods ... we want to write a book on how it helps mental health. 3 x week for half hour keeps depression away.
