Dignity at work,
JUSTICE FOR AMBER
On October 20, 2009, Amber Hicks, a military veteran and 9-months pregnant mother-to-be, was fired by The Wornick Company. Amber was also an advocate of helping all of her co-workers and an advocate of forming a union at Wornick.
Now, Amber and her unborn child have no income and no health care benefits.
The Wornick Company has received over $140 million in state and federal funds for military rations and humanitarian supplies. But Wornick still fails to provide good jobs in our community, jobs in which workers are treated with dignity and respect. Instead, Wornick makes false promises and intimidates workers who stand up for a voice on the job. Workers like Amber.
Wornick is in Rep. Jean Schmidt’s Congressional District. But her representatives say that Rep. Schmidt should not interfere; that it’s not her role.
It’s time for Rep. JEAN SCHMIDT TO STAND UP FOR WORKERS IN HER DISTRICT. IT IS HER JOB.
