Poor People's March coming through Cinti today

Here is the web site of the march from New Orleans, through Cinci., and on to Dayton and then Detroit where a social forum will be held;
www.economichumanrights.org. You can also Google PPEHRC for info. The marchers will cross the Purple People Bridge on May 20th (Thursday) where they will be met by folks from the Contact Center and other organizations. We will all walk to the Contact Center on 12th and Vine, where there will be a barbecue.

Sleeping arrangements have been made for apx. 100 people at the Baptist Church in OTR. St. John's role in all this is to welcome the group Friday evening, May 21st, to our "Food for Thought"  pot luck and movie, being organized by Greg Terhune and Bo Wachendorf. We will be needing people to set up, clean up, and make food for Friday night. If you can't cook, financial donations to defray the cost of food in the form of a check made out to the Contact Center (put PPEHRC on the bottom of the check.) will be gratefully accepted.  Mail to The Contact Center, 1227 Vine St, Cincinnati, 45202.  Many thanks for helping with this real grass roots action.

Al
an Feibelman to present Wednesday 5
/26 at the Salon on ionized water
Alan says it is the best to drink.  Co
me hear why.
Allen Feibelman, a distributor for Kan
gen Water machines by the Enagic Corporation, has been involved on and off with Cincinnati's Green and Progressive Movements since the 1980s. Based on his own experiences in the last few months, he has learned that not all water is equal and that most of what we drink from the tap or bottle does not support our bodies as well as it should. He will be presenting what he has learned about Kangen water at the salon on May 26.
Unless we're juicing or eating raw, the liquids we consume have at least two of the following three toxic features: acidity, oxidization, and dehydrating structure.  An alkaline body makes us healthier and more vital.  However, most bottled beverages are acidic.  Acidic drinks include reverse osmosis water, Penta and Aquafina and all sodas and sports drinks.  Acidic drinks reduce the vitality of our bodies, lower our ability to fight infectious disease, and make us more prone to degenerative disease.
Antioxidants such as orange juice, green tea, berries and vegetables help protect the body against disease, inflammation and aging.  All bottled beverages and tap water are oxidizing.  Some oxidizing beverages are tap water, Dasani, Crystal Mountain water and Kroger water.  Oxidizing beverages contribute to disease, inflammation and aging.
Finally, all bottled beverages and tap
water have water that has a molecular structure that is dehydrating.  Beverages that have a dehydrating molecular structure include Smart Water, Whole Foods Brand 360 water and Penta.  These beverages and all bottled beverages have water molecules which are arranged in clumps that are too large to cross the cell wall easily, so the water doesn't hydrate and detoxify the cell very easily.
Kangen water machines by Enagic make p
otable water that is alkaline, antioxidant and has a hydrating molecular structure.  Kangen water has been recognized in Japan as being extremely beneficial to maintain a high level of vitality and health and for healing a wide variety of diseases.  Enagic machines which make Kangen water have been medically certified devices in Japan for 34 years.  Kangen water machines by Enagic are currently in 250 Japanese hospitals and clinics and in 400,000 Japanese homes.  The science and health effect of Kangen water has been studied by Japanese scientiests and medical doctors for more than 34 years.
Kangen water is also more enjoyable to
drink.  Allen says that although he knew water was good for him, and although he did not drink sodas or coffee, he still did not like to drink water because it gave him a sloshy feeling in his stomach.  Kangen water tastes better to most people.  Many people have a natural desire to drink more Kangen water because it is absorbed into the cells much more quickly.  Because Kangen water is immediately absorbed into the cells, it does not give a sloshy feeling.  Another reason many people naturally desire more Kangen water is because when the body immediately experiences a level of hydration that it has been seeking and missing for a long time, then that naturally expresses as thirst for that beverage.
Because we are 75% or more water, maki
ng the water in us more supportive of health can have profound effects on vitality, mood and any specific issues.  Specific issues that people have experienced results from Kangen water include joint and gastrointestinal issues, immune function, endocrine issues, and degenerative diseases.  The water can also be used topically for skin conditions.
We will have the ability to test diffe
rent liquids for acidity, so bring your favorite bottled water, sports drink, soft drink, or other beverage to see how it stacks up against Kangen water.  We will also have delicious Kangen water to sample.  Free two week trials of the water are available by contacting Allen at 513-375-3291

Clark Montessori ... Contest outcome:

Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you all for taking time to vote for my school. (I was one of the founding teachers back in the '80's, and I still consider it my school!)

On May 4 Clark learned that a school in Michigan won.  Someone from the President's cabinet will speak at Clark's graduation.  They think that it will be Arnie Duncan, Secretary of Education. He is the guy who is thinking up all these good educational ideas and Clark wants to speak to him about Montessori when he visits.

It's all good! May we all be happy and healthy! Claudia Bernard

League of Women
Voters: Act now to protect 2010 Election!

Earlier this year, the Supreme Court ha
nded down a far-reaching decision that allows corporations and unions to spend unlimited advertising funds in candidate elections.  The practical effect of the decision in Citizens United v. FEC is that such unlimited spending can be done in secret!

We must act quickly to protect the 2010 elections from being swamped with secret corporate and union money.  Legislation to require complete disclosure of corporate and union electioneering has been introduced in the House and Senate, and the League of Women Voters is strongly supporting this bill, known as the DISCLOSE Act.

Please contact your Senators and Representative and urge them to support the DISCLOSE ACT.  http://participate.lwv.org/p/dia/action/
public/?action_KEY=1757
Tell them that they must act quickly, i
n time for the 2010 elections.

The DISCLOSE Act will create strong new disclosure rules, require more complete disclaimers by those running ads, bar election spending by foreign corporations, create clearer coordination rules, and prohibit election ads by large federal contractors or corporations that receive federal bailout funds.  Now, even foreign corporations can purchase ads in an effort to sway voters, and they can do so secretly.

We urgently need enhanced disclosure in time for the 2010 elections.  Voters deserve to know who is paying for election advertising. Secret money, especially secret foreign money, has no place in America's democracy.

Act now to urge Congress to act quickly to protect the 2010 elections.

TAKE ACTION

1. Contact your Senators

Building the Citizen Budget

For the p
ast several months, CCR (Citizens for Civic Renewal) has been convening the Citizen Budget Coalition to develop a way to work with the City of Cincinnati Mayor, Council and Administration to include citizen input in the policy budget for 2011-2012.

(don't worry if y ou don't understand
city budgets...they have worksheets and  explanations and possible cuts etc. that you can consider.  You can also download them at

The Mayor, Council and A
dministration have agreed that hearing from citizens would be useful.   The Coalition has designed a process where citizens will deliberate in small groups and suggest how the City of Cincinnati should balance a $50 million budget deficit.  To have your voice heard, sign-up for one of the three neighborhood meetings and/or the all-city meeting.  Space is limited, so please RSVP today.  Please pass this invitation along to your fellow citizens to assure diverse views are included.   If you have questions, contact Steve Johns, Executive Director, Citizens for Civic Renewal at 458-6736 orccrcinn@juno.com.

I am having a

blast here in my first year of teaching the Alexander Technique! Unbelievably, a full calendar since the launch of my practice in late June.   This winter I was having so much demand for my lessons that I had to stop advertising and ask some well-progressing students to drop back to twice a month instead of weekly lessons.  Now that spring is finally here I am feeling more energetic and again am daring to reach out to more folks.

Fantastic fee deal (limited time only):  First lesson free; second through 4th lessons only $10.  After that, only $40/lesson if you buy a package of 4 at a time, prepaid. *   The "real fee" is $78 per lesson.  I am interested in "turning on" as many people as possible to this wonderful learning.  Good for pain, for performance improvement in the arts, atheltics, ... And finally, good for personal development.  It has definite geriatric benefit as well.

You can read about my own experiences and find links to other sites here:

adjust fees for anyo
ne truly wanting lessons who cannot afford even this modest fee.  Try it and see.  Ellen

Dangers of Bottled Water

Subject: 'Tapped: The Movie' explores profiteering on a basic human necessity, and plastic toxicity

Hello,

When I saw the ads for
Tapped: The Movie, I figured I already knew everything that was in, but I went anyway. I was SO wrong!  It really woke me up to the multiple issues and challenges of bottled water.  When you see this film, you will never buy bottled water again.

One part of the bottled water issue is plastic in the ocean, which you can find on cnn.com here:http://www.cnn.com/video/?/video/world/2010/02/16/vbs.ocean.trash.vbstv. Charles Moore Charles Moore's website is on the cutting edge of addressing this poisoning of our oceans with plastic.  He is in both 'Tapped: The Movie' and the cnn.com story, which is seen in full uncensored form in three parts here:http://www.vbs.tv/newsroom/toxic-garbage-island-1-of-3--4.

Information on the plastic in oceans call also be found on Garbage Girl's blog:http://lindseyhoshaw.wordpress.com/
