Nader almost got arrested for having a ticket to watch the debate in a Fox studio where he was going to be interviewed. The sheriff refused to let him in. ... I don’t like paying high taxes. I didn’t want to pay for the jail proposed by the Co. Commissioners. So every Wed. at 9:30 I give 2 min. speech to the Co. Commission. Today Todd Portune was 35 min. late. I heard on the radio about the Vera report on crime, justic system here. ... Most in the jail don’t belong there. A penny of prevention is worth a pound of cure. ... Let the poor enjoy their reefers (laughter). ... I quoted D. Eisenhower, “there are lies, damn lies, and statistics.” It is absurd that 70% of the co. budget goes to “safety”, i.e. Jailing our citizens. 30% of the total co. budget is controled by Si Leis. I also have just found out that the Sheriff has a submarine; has a tank; has two helicopter, a boat,. I heard it from an att’y in the prosecutors office.
the criteria for Sheriff have been narrowed more and more so that only he and 4 others can qualify.
The Freedom Center is 300,000 in deficit.
At city council, I wished them happy holidays. Said in 2008 we the people would be watching them carefully. We the people deserve better than that you give hand outs to corporates.

MIRA
I was in the 5th grade in elementary school. They were choosing parts for the living creche scene. I was chosen to be Mary because I had brown hair and could sing a little. Was going to sing “Away in a Manger”. I was delighted, also scared. Suddenly someone realized I was Jewish, and therefore I couldn’t sing the part of Mary, and they chose Phyllis Tracy who was Catholic, blond, and couldn’t carry a tune.
Mrs. Stenner taught us songs in the music room. I sang, “Onward MMM MMM soldiers”, because I loved to sing.
Ginger: I loved “fall on your knees!” ... Jewish also.
Ellen... Christmas story about being 22 years old in Paris all alone. No time to recount (I am off to Denver to visit my daughter Anna and her partner Fran and their baby Jeremy. Back Tuesday night.)
DAN: in 1962, I was 5 yrs old. My big brother brought me next door to see Santa. My brother left me there and he went back home. Suddenly in walks Santa, Ho Ho Ho. Gifts. Passes out boxes to everyone. Gave me a present. Very little. Then he comes back with more presents... This time he skips me. My first present was a little pin ball game. I noticed Santa skips me. Round three, skipped me again. Round 4 ... Bigger and bigger gifts for the other children. I burst out crying and ran home. I didn’t know my father was playing Santa for the neighbors. ... Next morning I learned my dad had been Santa.
Santa People ask me if I play Santa Claus. I say, “I don’t have to.”

Steve I just read the Peter Block article. If someone like Kathy wants to trash a man who wants to heal our city, I don’t know.... “No good deed goes unphnnished.” She has no dirt on him, and yet he is the subject of a trashing. There is s ometing deeper here. We have a difficulty with people who say, “I am going to donate my services free to this city.” ... Of course every human has flaws. But if we liberals don’t appreciate him ... !

Based on Nader’s work, all cars are safer; all drugs are safer. When the ad hominum starts saying he has one suit, is too thin .. Then we have lost something.
There is a standard philanthropic method...write a check. Peter takes a different road. He puts his time and energy into the city. He doesn’t put his name on his work. He lets it be the people’s projects.
I know Kathy. ... There is no other place; Peter moved his office into the Peasley center in OTR.
Why doesn’t she go after Lindner, or Chessley, or Mayerson whose priorities are the Jewish community. ... It would be like criticizine the salon for not having enough vegetarian food.
I would e xpect from someone as brilliant as Kathy can be to see this. An unusual aproach;.

Brooke We are about creating new ways of being. Let’s find this next year new ways of being with each other to change things. ... Nader, who has been more dedicated to us? If we can turn on, attack someone like that ... How might we be not so quick to rush to judgement about others. What can we do instead. Positive alternative? It is a cultural thing. We need slogans.
Ellen We tend to be ashamed and embarrassed of what is the best in ourselves; our tender heartedness, our compassion. I want to respond to Brooke’s call, and resolve to resist that tendency in myself.
Mira: I think Kathy has discomfort with the huge amount of racism hidden and not hidden in Cinti.
David a personal Peter Block story. I was at one of his seminars. Divided in small groups. Asks incredible questions to get the conversation going. Gets your best thinking going. One of the people in my group was a Black man, a grad student, the first to go to college in his fam. One year to go and his wife got cancer. Had to decide whether to stay in school or drop out and care for her. No family here in the city. All this conflict started pouring out of him. ...I don’t remember his name, wouldn’t recognize him again. Meanwhile, it got to be my turn, and I started sharing about my ending marriage, family in disarray, feel so bad, need to learn to forgive my former wife so I can lead a sensible life, and this has been hard for me. This man popped up and said, “Yes, and you need to forgive yourself.” It hit me like a ton of bricks. Huge healing moment for me.
Meanwhile, the grad student had decided to take his wife back to N. Carolina and care for her... Was able to come to the decision right there. There was something magic going on.
Mira there is something quite magical about it. Spiritual element. He can energize.
Steve ...there is an increasing appreciation of open heartedness in Peter’s groups. You go from a world that demolishes open heartedness, ... I am reflecting on Jimmy Heath, the editor of Street Vibes, just died. Commitment to justic for homeless, to gentleness. People turned out today for the funeral. Peter was there as well. “It is all right to open your heart now.” ... Peter has said, just take a moment here to think of yourself as an agent of gentleness. ... Among only 5 people in the city, who have opened their hearts.
Brooke you have shifted this conversation to a deeper level. Heart of what is peace creating. ... I’d love to see us dedicate the New Year to trying to create new mores in our little groups to make heart more OK, OK to be human. New territory. Make it not taboo to be coming from the heart.
Ginger most disturbing watching the Nader movie. He was almost always right on. Just ahead of the curve. Thirty years ago talking about corps. Running the country. What troubles me is how other people behaved towards him ... Liberals ... They turned on him vicious. Turned him into Satan. Nader is a kind of pure human being. He trumps Mother Theresa.
Steve the vicious attacks on Nader, comes from need to blame someone for the terrifying developments ... The 51% of the people who disagree with “me” profoundly, the ones who voted for Bush. There is a sickness. I was one who wanted Nader to step down ... Why didn’t he see that the country was tipping? It is my desire to be in control at all costs that makes me want to demonize Nader.
Vlasta I met Nader in 2001. Was invited backstage. Nader’s mom wrote “It happens in the kitchen” about how she raised her children, also wonderful recipes. He was gentle, sweet. Appreciated the food. Signed the book.

and Gedeon Naudet were caught in the collapse of the World
Trade Center. Jules was shooting inside when the South Tower
fell. "On Sept. 11, we faced death and thought we had lost

the first step in a journey that would take us around the world
searching for answers to the meaning of life."
The brothers' quest took them to Egypt, England, India, Israel,
Japan, Lebanon, Russia and the Vatican, as well as Illinois and
South Carolina.
"We chose these 12 leaders because of the vast number of
believers ‹ more than four billion ‹ that their faiths
represent," said Gedeon Naudet. "We also wanted to explore the
diversity of spirituality in our world today."
The program marks the first time that this distinct group of
leaders has appeared in one broadcast. These spiritual beacons
speak out about violence and hatred and reveal their own
thoughts about faith, peace, unity, tolerance and hope.
Viewers will see them in intimate settings, including their
homes and personal places of worship. Ultimately, through the

I have told several of you about how consoling my experience was a week ago
Friday at the Brueggeman Center at XU, an evening with Joanna Macey, one of my
long-time heroines, I took a few notes and want to pas them on to you, in
this season of cold and dark and warmth and light.

There's probably never been a generation that has had less regard for the
impact its own choices will have on future generations, such a contrast from that
of the Native Americans who discerned their choices by the impact they could
imagine they might have on 7 generations later.
But, not to fear: there is definitely a Revolution underway, but it is being
ignored by all the mainstream media (including NPR and the NY Times!) - it is
being referred to as "The Great Turning" - refering to the shift from
Industrial growth society to a "life sustaining society" - it is the Third Revolution
! Industrial Growth Society is out of control and it is destroying itself. It
sets its goals on how fast it grows, only measuring its success by the profit
of large corporations. Any system that tries to maximize a single variable
will self-destruct, because it is forced to make one "quick-killing" after
another.
Love Life, Stay Sane!! We have to choose because the Great Turning is
happening at the same time as this Great Unravelling. How can we take joy at being
at this cusp and not go crazy? First of all: there is no guarantee of anything
- so drop the need for that guarantee. This is the edge of what Life can do
in, through and for us. It is revealing our profound interconnectedness.
There are 3 ways to be part of this: 1) slowing down the destruction in myriad
little ways we can choose. 2) be involved in creating new ways and new
structures to create the new world in the shell of the old. ie: not waiting for the
Revolution, but living it now. (Coming back to Life - new book by Macey) 3)
transformation of consciousness: our Earth is a Living Being, not our supply
house and sewer. It is alive! and we who have been used to such
instrumentalist thinking must have our minds transformed.

then read an exquisite poem to accompany each point, "so that our nervous
system would take in the core inspiration of each..." she said....unfortunately, I

More support for 9/11 Conspiracy Theory

Yes I've read the story below (from last week’s Weekly) and I find that story unlikely to establish your position -- and Spencer's -- that the 7WTC has been shown to have collapsed by some means other than a bomb blast.(I have no position on the conspiracy theory. Ellen)
Check the highlighted segments below. In Green/Bold... There is no conclusive solution at this point, and they even say that their most likely alternative to a bomb is highly unlikely by their own admission.
How do you manage to interpret this wiki piece as saying that 7WTC was not brought down, when Larry Silverstein told reporters from PBS that he'd authorized the building brought down?
The best the opponents of the bomb theory can say to attempt to discredit the bomb theory is that they couldn't *find* any evidence of a bomb blast, but as I pointed out, Guiliani had already shipped the columns that would have resolved the doubts out of the country as debris to be salvaged overseas.
Let's not be hypnotized by the smoke and mirrors, of credentials with no results, postponed promises and engineering razzle-dazzle shellgames. You know I like engineering and math but I also abhor its use as a deterrent to attention spans. Most annoying.

7 World Trade Center on fire after the collapse of the Twin Towers on 9/11
As the North Tower collapsed on September 11, 2001, debris hit 7 World Trade Center, causing heavy damage to the south face of the building.[3] The bottom portion of the building's south face was heavily damaged from debris, including: damage to the southwest corner from the 8th to 18th floor, a large vertical gash on the center-bottom extending at least ten floors, and other damage as high as the 18th floor.[3] The building was equipped with a sprinkler system, but had many single-point vulnerabilities for failure. The sprinkler system required manual initiation of the electrical fire pumps, rather than being a fully automatic system. The sprinkler floor level controls had just a single connection to the sprinkler water riser, and the sprinkler system required some power for the fire pump to deliver water. Loss of power to the fire pump or other damage to the structure would have meant no functioning sprinklers. Also, water pressure was low, with little or no water to feed sprinklers.[26][27]
After the north tower collapsed, some firefighters entered 7 World Trade Center to search the building. They attempted to extinguish small pockets of fire, but low water pressure hindered their efforts.[28] A massive fire burned into the afternoon on the 11th and 12th floors of 7 World Trade Center, the flames visible on the east side of the building.[29][30] During the afternoon, fire was also seen on floors 6–10, 13–14, 19–22, and 29–30.[3] At approximately 2:00 p.m., firefighters noticed a bulge in the southwest corner of 7 World Trade Center between the 10th and 13th floors which was a sign that the building was unstable and might collapse.[31] During the afternoon, firefighters also heard creaking sounds coming from the building.[32] Around 3:30 pm, given that 7 World Trade Center was unstable and would possibly collapse, FDNY Chief Daniel Nigro decided to halt rescue operations, surface removal and searches along the surface of the debris near 7 World Trade Center and evacuate the area due to concerns for the safety of personnel.[33][31] At 5:20 p.m. EDT on September 11, 2001, 7 World Trade Center collapsed. The building had been evacuated and there were no casualties associated with the collapse.
In May 2002, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued a report on the collapse based on a preliminary investigation conducted jointly with the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers under leadership of Dr. W. Gene Corley, P.E. FEMA made preliminary findings that the collapse was not primarily caused by actual impact damage from the collapse of 1 WTC and 2 WTC but by fires on multiple stories ignited by debris from the other two towers that continued unabated due to lack of water for sprinklers or manual firefighting. Structural elements were exposed to high temperatures for a sufficient period of time to reduce their strength to the point of collapse.[6]
The report did not reach final conclusions about the cause of the collapse, but listed several issues requiring further investigation. FEMA made these findings:
Loss of structural integrity was likely a result of weakening caused by fires on the 5th to 7th floors. The specifics of the fires in WTC 7 and how they caused the building to collapse remain unknown at this time. Although the total diesel fuel on the premises contained massive potential energy, the best hypothesis has only a low probability of occurrence. Further research, investigation, and analyses are needed to resolve this issue. [Ch. 5, p. 31.]

In response to FEMA's concerns, the Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) was authorized to lead a three-year, $16 million investigation into the structural failure and collapse of the World Trade Center twin towers and 7 World Trade Center.[34] The investigation, led by Dr S. Shyam Sunder, drew not only upon in-house technical expertise, but also upon the knowledge of several outside private institutions, including the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (SEI/ASCE), the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), and the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY).[35]
Few photos and video clips exist that show the damage sustained to south face of 7 World Trade Center on 9/11. From a news helicopter, ABC News captured footage of the south face of 7 World Trade Center, including a glimpse of a gash, extending approximately 10 stories
NIST has released a video and still-photo analysis of 7 World Trade Center before its collapse that appears to indicate a greater degree of structural damage from falling debris than originally assumed by FEMA. Specifically, NIST's interim report on 7 World Trade Center displays photographs of the southwest façade of the building that show it to have significant damage. 7 World Trade Center is a building in New York City located across from the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan. The name 7 World Trade Center has referred to two buildings: the original structure, developed in 1984, and the current structure. The original building was destroyed on September 11, 2001 and replaced with the new 7 World Trade Center, which opened in 2006. Both buildings were developed by Larry Silverstein who holds a ground lease for the site from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The original 7 World Trade Center was 47 stories tall, clad in red exterior masonry, and occupied a trapezoidal footprint. An elevated walkway connected the building to the World Trade Center plaza. The building was situated above a Consolidated Edison power substation which imposed unique structural design constraints. When the building opened in 1987, Silverstein had difficulties attracting tenants. In 1988, Salomon Brothers signed a long-term lease, and became the main tenants of the building. On September 11, 2001, the building was damaged by debris when the adjacent Twin Towers collapsed. Its structural integrity was further compromised by fires which burned throughout the afternoon. The original 7 World Trade Center collapsed at 5:20 p.m. on September 11 due to the combined effect of structural and fire damage.
The new 7 World Trade Center construction began in 2002 and was completed in 2006. It is 52 stories tall and still situated above the aforementioned power substation. Built on a smaller footprint than the original to allow Greenwich Street to be restored from TriBeCa through the World Trade Center site and south to Battery Park, the new building is bounded by Greenwich, Vesey, Washington, and Barclay streets. A small park across Greenwich Street occupies space that was part of the original building's footprint. The current 7 World Trade Center's design placed emphasis on safety, with a reinforced concrete core, wider stairways, and thicker fireproofing of steel columns, and incorporates numerous environmentally friendly features.
The original 7 World Trade Center was a 47-story building, designed by Emery Roth & Sons, with a red granite façade. The building was 610 feet (186 m) tall, with a trapezoidal footprint that was 330 ft (101 m) long and 140 ft (43 m) wide.[1][2] Tishman Realty & Construction managed construction of the building, which began in 1983.[1] In March 1987, the building opened, to become the seventh structure of the World Trade Center.
The building was constructed above a Con Edison substation, which had been on the site since 1967.[3] The substation had a caisson foundation designed to carry the weight of a future building on the site of 25 stories containing 600,000 sq ft (55,700 m2).[4] The final design for 7 World Trade Center was for a much larger building covering a larger footprint than originally planned when the substation was built.[5]
The structural design of 7 World Trade Center included features to allow a larger building than originally planned to be constructed. A system of gravity column transfer trusses and girders was located between floors 5 and 7 to transfer loads to the smaller foundation.[3] Existing caissons installed in 1967 were used, along with new ones, to accommodate the building. The fifth floor functioned as a structural diaphragm, providing lateral stability and distribution of loads between the new and old caissons. Above the seventh floor, the building's structure was a typical tube-frame design, with columns in the core and on the perimeter, and lateral loads resisted by perimeter moment frames.[4]
A shipping/receiving ramp, which served the entire World Trade Center complex, occupied the eastern quarter of the 7 World Trade Center footprint. The building was open below the third floor, providing space for truck clearance on the shipping ramp.[4] The spray-on fireproofing for structural steel elements was gypsum-based Monokote which had a two-hour fire rating for steel beams, girders and truss, and a three-hour rating for columns.[6]

Mechanical equipment was installed on floors four through seven, including 12 transformers on the fifth floor. Several generators in the building were used by the Office of Emergency Management, Salomon Smith Barney and others.[6] Storage tanks contained 24,000 gallons (91,000 L) of diesel fuel to supply the generators.[7] Fuel oil distribution components were located at ground level, up to the ninth floor.[8] After the World Trade Center bombings of February 26, 1993, New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani decided to situate the emergency command center and associated fuel tanks at 7 World Trade Center, possibly adding to the devastation of the September 11 attacks.[9][10][11][12][13][14] The roof of the building included a small west penthouse and a larger east mechanical penthouse.[3]
Each floor had 47,000 sq ft (4,366 m2) of rentable office space which made the building's floor plans considerably larger than most office buildings in the City.[15] In all, 7 World Trade Center had 1,868,000 sq ft (174,000 m2) of office space.[6] Two pedestrian bridges connected the main World Trade Center complex, across Vesey Street, to the third floor of 7 World Trade Center. The lobby of 7 World Trade Center had three murals by artist Al Held: The Third Circle, Pan North XII, and Vorces VII.[16][17] A sculpture by Alexander Calder, called WTC Stabile (also known by other names, The Cockeyed Propeller and Three Wings) was on a plaza in front of the building.[18]

In June 1986, before construction was completed, Silverstein signed Drexel Burnham Lambert as a tenant to lease the entire 7 World Trade Center building for $3 billion over a term of 30 years.[19] In December 1986, after the Boesky insider-trading scandal, Drexel Burnham Lambert canceled the lease leaving Silverstein to find other tenants.[20] Spicer & Oppenheim agreed to lease 14 percent of the space but for more than a year, as Black Monday and other factors adversely affected the Lower Manhattan real estate market, Silverstein was unable to find tenants for the remaining space. By April 1988, Silverstein had lowered the rent and made other concessions.[21]
In November 1988, Salomon Brothers withdrew from plans to build a large new complex at Columbus Circle in Midtown and agreed to a 20-year lease for the top 19 floors of 7 World Trade Center.[22] The building was extensively renovated in 1989 to accommodate the needs of Salomon Brothers.[23] Most of three existing floors were removed as tenants continued to occupy other floors, and more than 350 tons (U.S.) of steel were added to construct three double-height trading floors. Nine diesel generators were installed on the 5th floor as part of a backup power station. "Essentially, Salomon is constructing a building within a building - and it's an occupied building, which complicates the situation," said a district manager of Silverstein Properties. The unusual task was possible, said Larry Silverstein, because it was designed to allow for "entire portions of floors to be removed without affecting the building's structural integrity, on the assumption that someone might need double-height floors."[23]
At the time of the September 11, 2001 attacks, Salomon Smith Barney was by far the largest tenant in 7 World Trade Center, occupying 1,202,900 sq ft (111,750 m2) (64 percent of the building) which included floors 28–45.[24][6] Other major tenants included ITT Hartford Insurance Group (122,590 sq ft/11,400 m2), American Express Bank International (106,117 sq ft/9,900 m2), Standard Chartered Bank (111,398 sq ft/10,350 m2), and the Securities and Exchange Commission (106,117 sq ft/9,850 m2).[24] Smaller tenants included the Internal Revenue Service Regional Council (90,430 sq ft/8,400 m2) and the United States Secret Service (85,343 sq ft/7,900 m2).[24] The smallest tenants included the New York City Office of Emergency Management, NAIC Securities, Federal Home Loan Bank, First State Management Group Inc., Provident Financial Management, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service.[24] The Department of Defense (DOD) and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) shared the 25th floor with the IRS.[6] Floors 46–47 were mechanical floors, as were the bottom six floors and part of the seventh floor.[6][25]

As the North Tower collapsed on September 11, 2001, debris hit 7 World Trade Center, causing heavy damage to the south face of the building.[3] The bottom portion of the building's south face was heavily damaged from debris, including: damage to the southwest corner from the 8th to 18th floor, a large vertical gash on the center-bottom extending at least ten floors, and other damage as high as the 18th floor.[3] The building was equipped with a sprinkler system, but had many single-point vulnerabilities for failure. The sprinkler system required manual initiation of the electrical fire pumps, rather than being a fully automatic system. The sprinkler floor level controls had just a single connection to the sprinkler water riser, and the sprinkler system required some power for the fire pump to deliver water. Loss of power to the fire pump or other damage to the structure would have meant no functioning sprinklers. Also, water pressure was low, with little or no water to feed sprinklers.[26][27]
After the north tower collapsed, some firefighters entered 7 World Trade Center to search the building. They attempted to extinguish small pockets of fire, but low water pressure hindered their efforts.[28] A massive fire burned into the afternoon on the 11th and 12th floors of 7 World Trade Center, the flames visible on the east side of the building.[29][30] During the afternoon, fire was also seen on floors 6–10, 13–14, 19–22, and 29–30.[3] At approximately 2:00 p.m., firefighters noticed a bulge in the southwest corner of 7 World Trade Center between the 10th and 13th floors which was a sign that the building was unstable and might collapse.[31] During the afternoon, firefighters also heard creaking sounds coming from the building.[32] Around 3:30 pm, given that 7 World Trade Center was unstable and would possibly collapse, FDNY Chief Daniel Nigro decided to halt rescue operations, surface removal and searches along the surface of the debris near 7 World Trade Center and evacuate the area due to concerns for the safety of personnel.[33][31] At 5:20 p.m. EDT on September 11, 2001, 7 World Trade Center collapsed. The building had been evacuated and there were no casualties associated with the collapse.
In May 2002, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued a report on the collapse based on a preliminary investigation conducted jointly with the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers under leadership of Dr. W. Gene Corley, P.E. FEMA made preliminary findings that the collapse was not primarily caused by actual impact damage from the collapse of 1 WTC and 2 WTC but by fires on multiple stories ignited by debris from the other two towers that continued unabated due to lack of water for sprinklers or manual firefighting. Structural elements were exposed to high temperatures for a sufficient period of time to reduce their strength to the point of collapse.[6]
The report did not reach final conclusions about the cause of the collapse, but listed several issues requiring further investigation. FEMA made these findings:
Loss of structural integrity was likely a result of weakening caused by fires on the 5th to 7th floors. The specifics of the fires in WTC 7 and how they caused the building to collapse remain unknown at this time. Although the total diesel fuel on the premises contained massive potential energy, the best hypothesis has only a low probability of occurrence. Further research, investigation, and analyses are needed to resolve this issue. [Ch. 5, p. 31.]

In response to FEMA's concerns, the Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) was authorized to lead a three-year, $16 million investigation into the structural failure and collapse of the World Trade Center twin towers and 7 World Trade Center.[34] The investigation, led by Dr S. Shyam Sunder, drew not only upon in-house technical expertise, but also upon the knowledge of several outside private institutions, including the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (SEI/ASCE), the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), and the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY).[35]

I would like to make a few points and suggestions regarding your use of this article as a rebuttal to the presentation of 911 truth presented by the film Zeitgeist.
The truth behind what happened on 09/11/01 is a very complex and multi-faceted sequence of events. What has been left behind has turned out to be a plethora of “coincidences."
People sometimes become "truthers" when they become aware of one or more of the numerous instances of what the official conspiracy apologists insist are "coincidences" and conclude that something doesn’t add up. Unfortunately, it seems that the more one becomes aware of these coincidences the more they seem to connect together, solidly creating a rather hideous picture of what the real story actually is.
There are a good number of those who call themselves "truthers" who probably have more than one screw loose and might be seen to be barking up trees that aren't there. I don't know if the authors of Zeitgeist fall into that category or not. I also don't know what their academic qualifications are, if any.
I would, however, assert, that if you would really like to see the detailed data presented by relevant professionals explaining the 9/11 Truth movement’s skeptical view of the "authoritative" explanations put forth by articles such as the one you presented you might consider starting here:

Jimmy Heath, I am told, died this week at Hospice. I was reminded of the lyric from "Joe Hill" that goes, '"I never died," said he..."' Jimmy Heath will live on in the many memories of his gentleness, a light that shone from him every time we met. Gentleness is a quality of the highest level of peacemaker. Jimmy never lectured, never instructed with coercive words or actions, never held that one way was the right way. Jimmy was always skillful at opening a space in a crowded life to any who wanted to sit or stand, reminding them that their space was always there by him. He had such a powerful hold on this gentleness that high school youth and adults would realize that he was "teaching" humanness in a way that is rarely seen. Jimmy was never far away from sharing some part of his story as a plant in growth, as a learner in the process of decoding the realities he found himself in, as a citizen of the world of peace and justice, taking time and words to remind us that there were too many homeless on our streets, too many hungry, mentally ill and so many people beaten down by the culture of hatred that he had somehow survived.
The power of his gentleness was personal as well as social. I can remember our lunches with Steve Elliot at Myra's as we plotted to bring peace into the schools under the cover of photography, posters, and good story telling. Jimmy, always curious, wondered just where we were finding the energy to keep teaching and learning in schools that seem to dislike youth and fostered machine like behavior. Jimmy reminded me that we had to take the other path, although gently, almost invisibly. He would say, "The kids get it if we say it with honesty." What a powerful reminder of the way we could grow peace in the war zones of high schools, a nudge to drop the rhetoric a level down and give the youth a chance to find their "vision" and "voices." Jimmy had seen and heard too much self righteous talk and action that led to another door-less room for teachers and students. Teaching through story and through photography sparked conversations in youth and adults about living a life of integrity and without ruthlessness. Jimmy seemed to force competitive emotions out of the room when he talked. There is his way, the gentle touch of a caring person, and there are the other ways, the top down plans, directives, grades, and fears. Listening to his story, it was easy to hear how much he loved being gentle and feeling gentleness on the part of others as the major way of teaching, learning and living.
Jimmy was also fierce about how the homeless were being mis-handled in the city, the nation and the world. His articles, news summaries, and pictures were direct and bold calls for action to protect the most vulnerable people, men, women and children of the streets and drop in shelters. Jimmy never wrote a shy word about justice. At times, his anger would flash when something or someone had burned a person or killed the spirit of a homeless person. Yet, his eyes would never harden and his voice never revealed bitterness. Like his pictures, the anger was a call to "see" into the violence and realize that another victim was claimed by a brutal society. He seemed to be saying, although I never heard him put it in words, "How could people, people with everything, treat people with so little with so much hatred?"
I thought I saw Jimmy the other night in Wyoming at the Friendship United Methodist Church. About 100 young people had gathered in the cold to read the names of some of the homeless that died this year on the streets of Cincinnati. It was a lovely meeting, filled with wide-eyed innocence of the young as they looked at an outdoor slide-show of homeless people living on the streets, narrated by the homeless. At outdoor fire was started in a garbage can, a mike was set up, and young people came up, one after another, and read the name of the deceased. The rest of us, parents, Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless staff, Peace Villagers and ministers, all held lit candles, the wax catchers surrounding the candle inscribed with a name of a dead homeless person. From time to time, we stopped to sing some songs, read a poem, and reflect on the sadness and beauty of the event. Jimmy seemed to be in the shadows, hands surrounding his camera, watching and smiling.
I thought I saw Jimmy this weekend at Camp Joy as a group of about 40 Hughes High School students, one Hughes teacher, and staff from Bridges for a Just Community, Center for Peace Education, Know Tribe, and the Peace Village gathered for sessions on creating a leadership team to promote peace and justice back at the school. It was just the kind of group that Jimmy had visited and shared his story and pictures, making a point of reminding people that the homeless have gifts of great beauty and intelligence. He would remind them that he was once homeless, drunk, and hopeless. Now, he would quietly say, he was just a person with the gifts being shared. I am always moved by these groups and what is being said out loud and in whispers. Inner city kids do not know that they are important and really vital for the future of our city and our world. Filled with too much hate and fear, they too often turn against themselves at the drop of a muttered insult. Quickly, though, the words and actions of compassion are learned, adopted and tried. "What do you feel?," Robert Harris of Bridges, asks and asks as he pleads with them to honor their own feelings. Robert is a dangerous facilitator as he spins around the conference room in his high speed wheelchair. Slowly, he pulls out the feelings of hurt, of pride, of hope and of love that are just beneath the surface, waiting for the call to appear. Jimmy would appear in these discussions, helping through his gentle urging, the students find the first sounds of their voices of courage, their feelings of power and justice, and their respect for themselves. Somehow, Jimmy would snap just the right picture of a person crossing over to compassion, perhaps one eye looking back to what was known.
I went out on the porch of the conference building after my discussion and saw the one teacher on a bench, sitting in the cold, crying. "What's happening?," I asked thinking that there was bad news coming to her via her cell-phone. " I am the only damn teacher here," she said, not bothering to wipe her tears away. "What the hell is going on in my school? Why have the teachers given up on these kids, these great kids? I am so angry!" We held hands and hearts, sitting in weepy silence. I thought I saw Jimmy coming over to us, to remind us that we really had done a great job, that we couldn't really know how much good we had done. Jimmy would have reminded us that our tears were signs of healthy anger, signals that justice denied to youth is worthy of a lot of tears and actions. He'd have told us a story about Buddy Gray, his mentor, who refused to give up on any homeless person and how he was "saved" by Buddy. Somehow, Jimmy's words would have helped us get up and get back inside. There is work to be done.

The Clifton Gaslight Main Street program is conducting a survey of people who regularly visit the Ludlow Avenue business district in gaslight Clifton. We would really appreciate hearing your thoughts on what you like (and would like to improve) about our district. Results will be used to improve the Ludlow Avenue business district. We will share them with existing Ludlow-area business owners and use them to identify new types of businesses that would fit well in the Ludlow district when vacancies occur.

Short Films by Found-Object Filmmaker PES [Friday 21 December @ 7:30-8:00 PM]: This 2002-2007 PES retrospective will include films, commercials, & making-ofs. A Slave Ship Speaks: The Wreck of the Henrietta Marie [thru December 31]: This is the 1st major traveling exhibit devoted to the transatlantic slave trade, focusing on the Henrietta Marie, the most complete slave ship ever discovered in the western hemisphere & the only one to be fully identified, recorded, archeologically examined & preserved. This exhibit examines the economic & social forces that drove the slave trade & provides insight into its impact on the material life & culture of Europe, Africa & the Americas. This exhibit uses artifacts & the ship’s records as touchstones for the entering the daily lives of the Africans on board, the seamen who manned the ship, & the traders who ran this notorious enterprise. Manifest Art Exhibits [thru Friday 11 January]: Trick of the Light: Contemporary Photography, guest curated by Dennis Kiel, Chief Curator, The Light Factory, Charlotte, NC. Artists were invited to submit recent photography-based work for an exhibit to reveal the power of light-based imagery to communicate, express, or evoke as visceral 1st-hand experience as any painting or sculpture exhibit might. Jury selection whittled 414 entries from 120 artists down to 15 works by 11 artists from 6 states & Japan. Funny Men: Illustrations by Ryan Ostrander & Gabriel Utasi. Two successful illustrators together for a tour-de-force exhibit of classic drawing-based illustration. Gabriel Utasi is staff illustrator at the East Valley Tribune in Mesa, AZ; Ryan Ostrander is full-time illustrator & graphic designer for The Cincinnati Post & has received awards from Scripps Howard News Service, AP Ohio, & named "Best Graphic Artist" 3 times by The Society of Professional Journalists. Documentary WORKS: Social Activist Documentaries of Barbara Wolf [Monday-Saturdays thru Thursday 24 January]: Films by local documentary filmmaker Barbara Wolf are screening during normal business hours as part of the film@mediabridges series. The films: "The Earth Covenant" describes a covenant being made between the peoples of the earth to take responsibility for the environment in the absence of comprehensive governmental action. "Peace March 2004" presents the Cincinnati protest as part of a larger national demonstration on the 1st anniversary of the US initiating bombing of Iraq. "Degrees Of Shame" examines the situation of adjunct (part-time) faculty teaching in America’s institutions of higher learning, suggesting they are the information economy’s migrant farm workers. "Know Theatre Corpus Christi Protests" documents protests outside the theatre during the play's entire run. "These Old Buildings Raised Our Many Children" was made in 1995 for & with long-term residents of Over-The-Rhine, looking at the effects of massive community redevelopment on their lives. "This Is My House" highlights transitional housing associated with the Drop Inn Center which was threatened by the proposed new SCPA. These films are presented by Media Bridges. Julian's Stanczak Exhibition [thru 3 February 2008]: The exhibit of work by this internationally significant artist coincides with the unveiling of his design for Fifth Third Bank's 6th Street Façade facing the CAC. In addition to the models & preparatory drawings, a collection of Julian Stanczak's work from throughout his career provide a context for his newest monumental project. Polish-born Stanczak trained under Josef Albers & Conrad Marca-Relli at Yale University's School of Art & Architecture. He brought this background to the Art Academy of Cincinnati where he taught from 1957-1964. Stanczak's work is characterized by scientific precision & the illusion of pulsating motion. Using repeated line patterns, his work studies the optical behavior of colors in close proximity to each other. His work earned him the moniker "Father of Op Art."
